ARB lockers!

Post by matta »

Dear Forumers,
I am currently thinking about buying some 2nd hand ARB lockers front and rear. I know that they are not as good as the Maxi's etc but for the driving I do I'm sure they would be fine. They are the 6 bolt configuration and comes complete with all compressors, switches etc.
My questions are:
(1) What would be a fair price to pay for these?
(2) Who in SE QLD could fit them for me.
(3) What would be a fair cost to do this (fitting etc).

I figure if I can pick them up cheapish then it can only be good for me. New ones complete front and rear are about $3300.00????

Thanks in advance.

Matt,

I have an air locker (10 spline rear) and haven't had any breakage (yet!!!!). I would recommend you buy newies, although more costly you know it hasn't been flogged out. I paid about $1270 all up with compressor from ARB at Bowen Hills (Southside wasn't open yet). Bearings for the diff cost about $120 and I fitted it myself, and total cost was about $1400.

If you can get a hold of second hand ones, you will be in front but you are not sure of what sort of treatment they have had and the diff may new bearing, CW and pinoin, etc..

If you do decide to buy new, get the 24 spline version and fit later Disco axles. Not as strong as a maxi but you will be better off in the long term. The only way you break things if you drive like an idiot and lack of knowledge on how to use them in the first place.

Anyway, best of luck,

Aquarangie

If it ain't broken, leave the bastard alone!!!
