I don't see a problem with it. If they touch you get annoying noises from the speaker vibrating against the metal. Otherwise it's fine.

whats stopping you from gluing some cheap "Clarks" rubber sheet to the back of the magnet just in case?

So long as it doesnt touch it will be fine.
If you are interested in sound quality make sure you apply some sound deadener (either spray or sheet) to the pannel to stop the pressure waves from the back of the speaker cone ressonating the pannel.

As others have said, sound deadener on the panel, and a piece of soft foam between the panel and the magnet.

I have Jaycar 6" speakers with 4-5" diameter magnets mounted a few mm away from my wiper motor in my 110 and it doesn't cause problems. A mate has a similar setup and says his wipers turn more slowly after he fitted the speakers, but I haven't noticed on mine.

I'd say your best bet (and what i always try to do) is bolt a ~15mm MDF spacer (like a donut) to your door then screw your speaker into this. This way the speaker is really solidly mounted and has some room to move (well...your door skin has room to move).
