According to the manufacturers plate on my HJ60 the GVM is 2730kg.
Long story cut short....I put it over a weighbridge this afternoon and it came up at 2180kg. Obviously this is due to the cut.
I wanted rear axle weight mainly (so I can get suspension set to suit) but they couldnt do that where I went, and wasnt much help in offering any info of someone who does.
So would it be fair in saying that the 550kg difference would be 90-100% above the rear axle, given that thats where most(if not all) of the weight was taken from. The reason I ask is I am sure that most reputable suspension mobs would know the original axle weights of these trucks anyway, else how could they set up a suspension package to suit.
Let me know what you think.

Most council rubbish collection stations have a weighbridge which you could use if you asked them nicely. Run your front wheels over the plate take measurement, front and rear wheels over the plate, take measurement, and run your drivers side front and rear wheels over the plate and another measurement. GVM is the total that the vehicle can be loaded to (Fuel + Luggage + Pssengers) What you seem to be talking about is the tare weight, which is usually the empty weight of the vehicle with full oil, radiator fluid, and 10l of fuel.

drive the front over so rear is on the scales, and get weight
reverse back on and get total weight.
I think the weight is right... If you go to http://www.redbook.com.au you can look up the specific model and double check... different ones may vary.. Eg 6/8 seater etc..G_loomis wrote:crikey....so the truck is actually heavier now than what it was!
And did u hop out when it was weighed? and have you taken all of your luggage and extras out?
If you have changed wheels and tyres, they might be heavier.. any upgraded components may increase the weight...

That is what usually happens - people usually add heavier components to 4x4s, not take bits off (tyres, wheels, bull bars, tools, winch, etc, etc). The tare weight is a completely stock HJ60 with absolutely nothing in it.G_loomis wrote:crikey....so the truck is actually heavier now than what it was!
