GU Patrol suspension (wagon)

Post by Patrolguy »

Hi All.

Getting new shocks soon and want your ideas.

Looking at getting RANCHO RS9000X 9 way adjustables $800(4) or TUFF DOG 45mm 9 way adjustables $1000-$1100(4).

Which would you guys get??

Also RTC or HD steering damper??

What is the general feeling on caster correction for a 2' lift?? Should I get a 2 degree correction?? Thinking of adding 30mm coil spacers too.

Vehicle is my daily driver to work and my wife drives it a fair bit too, but on weekends play hard in the bush. We are going on a 3 week trip up north QLD in August also so a fair bit of touring in the GU.

PS: 285/75R16 Cooper STT's.
GU Patrol 3.0TDi wagon, 3" RANCHO lift,
285/75R16 STT's, 3" exhaust, Rock Sliders,
ARB Air lockers, C/barrier, B/bar,
S/Oscar's, UHF/SATNAV & a Baby Seat

This is the 4-way rtc that corrects the pulling to the left? cos mine is shocking...

I run lovells too. They are good. Had em in for a year now. Havent lost any ride height due to saggin (heavy duty springs tho)

koni's x 3. dont worry about caster till you drive it. got none in mine with 2" lift. Standard damper till it shat, now got cheapo. RTC is a band aid. IF it pulls take it to truck alighnment joint and get them to have a look at king pin alignment bearing holder thingos ( cant reemmber what they're called ) replaces standard holders with reqd amount of offset, exxy but proper way to do it.

Try the ProComp shocks from 4WDStuff on this forum. A mate of mine got them and it rides great. Quite cheap too.

Steer away from the ranchos on a GU and dont use a RTC dampner, RTS mask a problem that needs fixing.

aslo dont bother with the TDs on a 2" get a shock valved to suit the spring you are using.
If the above post did not offend you in any way please PM me so I can try harder!!
