bfg mud terrain bad tyre?
just wondering if there was anyone out there who experiences constant balancing issues with the above mentioned tyre. they seem to be forever loosing lugs and become unblanced causing wheel wobble in gq.

Re: bfg mud terrain bad tyre?
any tire that looses lugs will become a bitch to balance. I'd be looking at what is causing the lugs to rip off. Maybe your doign more than the tires are designed for, and maybe Simex/Interco's would be a better choice for you.st george mufflers wrote:just wondering if there was anyone out there who experiences constant balancing issues with the above mentioned tyre. they seem to be forever loosing lugs and become unblanced causing wheel wobble in gq.
FWiW my BFG MT's have about 3 housebricks of weights per wheel to balance them. BFG didnt give a toss.
Ive got 33 x 12.5 x 15 bfg muds and they needed 4 house bricks to balance them
if you lifted your gq it makes them more sensative to balance issues
tyres are great, but just dont drive at 80kms or 100kms or they vibrate

The last set I had on my GU 2 needed almost no weight to balance, 1 needed about 150grams and the fourth was almost impossible, never had any undue issue's with lugs being torn off though (I say undue as due to lack of traction aiding devices and some rocky climbs .. there was possibly some overly judicous use of the right boot .... )

Maybe these people go wheeling cruel i know, sorry Grimbo, was too easy.grimbo wrote:I have 33 x 10 on my GQ and have never had a problem with the tyres not balancing. They haven't had lugs torn off either. Maybe you have other alignment issues that need addressing.
Had 285/75/16 BFG MT's on my GU with no troubles at all other than some crap in one of the beads, but i can't blame that on the tyre.

4500 rpm low 2nd and geographically only making a few meters per min on wet shale .. I was glad to only wreck a few lugs instead of tyres in total ..NJ SWB wrote:If lugs are being ripped off, the tyres must be cr@p - end of story.
Well, that's the argument about Coopers...
Scott
If I was lost lugs on dirt touring, like several people I know of with coopers .. I would be that would be a crap tyre

i never had a problem with my BFG MUDS but i do know that BFG did have a problem with tyres about 2 years ago that most tyre shops could not balance them and they did have a rep going around and cutting the bar code out of the tyre so they could not be used just check to see if you still have the bar code on your tyre if not they should be scrap

I am on my 2nd set of BFG muds. Had no problem with balance on the first set but the current set (285/75r16) need to get balanced about every 6 months. Not to bad IMHO. They do get a fair bit if use offroad . I have never had a lug rip off
