Auto conversion

Post by kered »

Does anybody know if the 4.8 litre 5 speed auto will bolt in behind the TD42T in an early GU and if much work is involved.

Or has anybody fitted other auto's behind the TD42T other than a GQ 4 speed auto.

its a nightmare to do the 4.8 to anything. Brunswick wont touch them - Another 2 places I talked to for conversions wont go near them as they wont talk to he engine in anyway.
They are that hard!

Theres a 4wd place in Melb, trying to do a Chev V8 to 4.8 (car only has 12,000 on it!) for 9 mths now, that they just cant get it to work, Rod at Wholesale Automatics in Bayswater has even had 2 goes at it, but it just wont work.

He told me what the issues were, but after he said "HASSLE + LOTS OF COST" I didnt listen

The best bet is buy a GQ Auto, and computer, then in NZ they have 4.2 auto GU's is to get the wiring harness from one of them, from the box, to computer, to the main loom. This is what Im doing at moment.

Any questions lemme know, other person to ask is Rodney at wholesale automatics in baywater. What Rod doesnt know aint worth knowing.
