Just one of those things that happens I guess, but it was very sudden. My starter motor woked well until yesterday lunchtime when it quit - thankfully at a mates workshop. When dismantled the bearings were found to be stuffed and the clutch assembly in the reduction drive had quit - that was the major problem. I can get the drive rebuilt in the eastern states somewhere for abut $150 plus freight, or I can get a new drive shaft for $400 + GST (from Japan), or a replacement starter motor for approx $700. Does anyone have experience with this sort of thing happening before - according to my mates who also run nissans this problem usually happens slowly with some warning. Any info appreciated, if people are interested I can find the place that rebuilds the drive.
Cheers
