Gullwing doors/windows
Just got my copy of 4WD Monthly and they had a write up on this troopie with gullwing doors on the rear cab.
Looks like a great idea and could be a useful change for my shorty patrol. Make it easier to get to gear in the back since my storage unit is about window height anyway. The sliding windows are OK but something like this would be better. (Just window height) Anyone done something like this or know of a way to do it?

A company called Creative Conversions do all kinds of body mods like the one shown.
They are in Brendale near Strathpine.
They do very good work as they have converted both of my empolyers 79 series landcruisers.
One of them has been stretched 600mm and had a box added to behind the cab which is open fully into the box.
The other has been stretched 400mm with the same type of box behind it.
Incase anyone is wondering the first truck is called MUDTOY and is normally parked outside 4x4megastore at Coopers Plains.
The other is the white 79 series thats parked there as well.
Cheers

That was what I was thinking. Or a caravan window or there are some nice (pricy) marine windows.bru21 wrote:why overcomplicate it just take the window out and make it like a arb ute canopy too easy!
I think the easiest way to do it would be to replace the 2 glass pieces on the GQ shorty with some lexan/perspex, then fit a window/hatch which is a little smaller. Then no body work is required.
Anyone know where ARB/TJM would be getting their windows for their canopies? (if they are not the OEM)
Here are some examples:
Camec
Whitworths
ARB
The pillars are normally made of a folded bit of sheet metal as well .. if they were made of some decent walled RHS they story may be quite differentBeastmavster wrote:You dont notice that normally your side pillars are like 6 inches wide and these are like an incha nd a half.
Its a MAJOR structural mod. Of course it needs engineering.
no reason it cant be done, if it's done properly.... but no engineers cert is NOT properly.
