2003 IFS Hilux - Safari Daikin Clutch - HELP

Hi guys,
Just spent well on 30mins searching for info on whats available and cant find the right answers, so Im figuring a more direct approach!

Would love peoples help to find a new heavy duty clutch for my 2003 IFS V6 (3.4L factory engined) Hilux.

Ive spoken to Daikin and they reackon that a Safaru TUFF cluytch is not available for this model. Have others had the same experience? Is the standard heady duty Daikin clutch sufficient for 33s and twin locked 4x4ing????

Also, what sort of dollars would I be looking for in getting it fitted? Ive read somewhere on this forum that you dont need to remove the Transfer case and gearbox completely to change the clutch, is this right??? Would it be half a days work for experienced mechanic or moe like 2 days work?

I thought the standard h/d Daikin clutch was the Safari Tuff clutch.
Is yours a push type clutch release or pull type?

at work we sell daikin clutches and the h/d clutch would be good enough for your 4b. i have sold the h/d clutch to my mates 4runner with 37's and he is happy with the clutch. should'nt take more then half a day to fit and you should get the flywheel machined as well. i did my clutch in the driveway at home,pushed the gearbox back enough to change it

What the diff between the h/d and the safari tuff dirty harry?

I dont know the exact differences between the TUFF clutch and the heavy duty item, but the people who sell them say the TUFF is made ALOT more heavier duty than the heavy duty one. I imagine the springs are stronger, the friction pad thicker or wears out less, but Im just guessing.

So general consensus is about half a days labour, so about $200-300 for the work plus clutch itsself?

Hmmm thats interesting. I got one for my 4wd V6 Rodeo (via phone order as I'm rural) and the dealer told me on the phone I'd be getting a Safari Tuff clutch.
The whole kit (Daikin) looked pretty standard except that it's a pull type clutch.

Whats the high torque plate supposed to look like in comparison to the standard plate Dirty Harry?

The Safari Tuff's arent availbale for some of the newer models yet, its just a matter of time and market need.

Sudso, your rodeo is a 98, so Exedy has heaps of customers waiting for new TUFF clutches, mines a 2003 so its still pretty new, and not a great demand yet.

Safari clutch has approx 35% better clamp capacity, but, you have added pressure on the pedal so it would feel heavier.
The labour time is more than $2-300 there is substantially more work than that.
