Simex JT2 34x11.5x15 - 12 Month Old Tyres showing strange wear pattern - Middle lugs are almost obsolte every 3rd to 4th lug? meaning circumfericing the tyre the middle lugs are showing good wear execpt for every 3rd to 4th lugs which are wearing in an approx 45' angle from 50%wear to almost zero. Rotated twice, Daily driving, 38psi - GQ Patrol Swb, running T/D 9stage adjustables 18 months old - Setting 4 on road.
Have asked a Well Known Reputable 4wd Store re; Wear & They have told me I should be running these @ 50psi on road?
i ran my 34x11.5 JT2's at 28 PSI onroad and they wore great no odd wear pattern and that was on my old MQ lwb and now i have ET2's and i ran them at 28 onroad also and the 3 centre lugs are wearing great better then i expected, i think 38psi is way to mutch i think the max rating on the JT2s is 32 psi from memory.
OK, my tyres are a little smaller, and the vehicle probably a little lighter, but I run mine at 38psi on road, and not noticed abnormal wear.
Yes, the center will wear more if your pressure is too high, but that wouldn't explain every 3rd/4th lug wearing. I reckon the 50psi suggestion is scary! Try another store?
I'm with sierrajim - something's wrong in your suspension. Is it all tyres doing this, or just one axle? Have somebody else drive your Patrol while you follow in another car, and watch what's happening.

Cheers Layto, But Regarding shocks - Check them how, they are working Fine, 1 is definatelt soft - 9 is Definately Hard - I run them @ 4 On road, would harder or softer help in any way???
Try running them a bit harder, when shocks fail they loose their ability to dampen the oscillation of the spring. This can lead to strange tyre wear patterns and poor road handling. Go out and bounce the rear and front of your car. It should go down then back up, but not keep moving (bouncing wobbling etc). If you still not sure, ring a few susp places and find one nearby with a shock dyno. Get them to do a reading with your shocks on the current setting, and see how it looks (get their opinion etc). Tyre pressure if too high would usually produce even wear in the centre of the tyre, not the random lug spacing wear like you have described. I cant really coment on your best tyre pressure, as i ahve swampers and a zook, so tyre and weight is no where near yours, but im sure that there are plenty that can. Hope this helps.
