Compression sounds like the problem.

Batt providing enough juice to the starter?

I would just say its either a poor spark due to a low battery (cranking is using all the power esp when cold) or with no choke its just simply not firing, have you tried giving it a little throttle when starting??

hey phil,
have you taken out a spark plug to see its getting spark?
also, did you have a prob last year in the cold with no choke?
mine used to take forever to start when i first got it becuase it didnt have a choke.

you said battery got plenty of juice in it?,

Aerostart=piss of the devil. Good for short term but can really bugger your motor.

When my choke wasn't working (1.3 sierra carb), 2 or 3 pumps of throttle gave it enough fuel to start on cold days
It wasn't easy tho, and flooding often occurred.
I know not if a webber uses a throttle pump, if not it won't help.

If it tow starts easily when cold, I'd be looking at battery stealing the spark. Maybe try a whizz bang coil to get a better spark?

yeah im thinking it might be because by rights airostart should make it go..
yep new batt and re built starter...
nope brenno was fawked batt!
it isnt starting all that easy tho..
has to be doing like 1100rpm to make it go..
so im thinking maby poor power to coil. i have changed coil and dissy already!

Check ur wiring is not dropping the voltage down or through the terminals.

does it start when jumper leads are used?

liams was doing this down southport when his battery was getting low, still had enough to turn it over but not enough to do that and supply the coil with enough power.

you say you need a starter???

May I ask how low because without decent compression you are pushing #$%& up hill.

do a comp test first. Mine sometimes is hard to start. it fires but wont settle into an idle straight away.

Check ya timing is correct (10* for the weber) and plugs are clean and gapped right. As for ya coil next time ya start it hotwire the coil to see if it is getting enough power. connect + side of coil to +side of battery and see if it helps with starting. Never leave it connected for too long without engine running as it can go bang.
