Just in case anyone ever needs to do a set of brushes on their standard 70A Hitachi / Nissan alternator (as I just did a few minutes ago - 205,000km is all I got out of the originals)
The P/N for the brushes is 22-71501
12 volt Hitachi
5 x 7 x 21.5mm brush size ...
Definately less than $10 ... and about 2 hours work ...
Was thinking about upgrading to the 110A Hitachi ... but compare $350ex. to $4.80 ... and the new brushes won the battle ...

If it's worth doing - it's worth doing to excess ...
205k is not much but better than some get I understand, curious how did you treat it? winching? spotlights, mud?
My GQ with the same alt is at 205k also, thanks for the p/n, is it the genuine Nissan number or Hitachi.
cheers fnq

hi fnq,
Not much rough work ... apparently used to be a farm truck - very little offroad use at all. 2 x Hella 4000's are all the really high drain electricals on it ... some charging of the camper ...
no winching, no mud, being a diesel there is no ign. system to deal with either. 205k ain't great, but it's not too bad ...
That P/N is the genuine Hitachi P/N - not sure if Nissan stock them - I got them from Ashdowns (repco would be able to get them seeing as how the two are closely related).
