Silverstone mt117
Hey guys,
just wondering if these tyres are any good, look pretty tuff (in that tractor tyre way)
I'm thinking about getting a set for my cruiser(62series), has anyone had any experience with them (good, bad, ugly)
cheers

The only negative thing I've heard is that you can't get enough variety of sizes. I've heard lots of good stuff about them though.
Cheers

Run the M117s in 33's (285/75/16) on the Pwado. Ran em on the Paj for a while. Done probably 1000k's on and off road - (mud/rocks) Have had no issues so far with them. They are noisey and not the greatest in wet on the B/Top but off road at low (16-18) or mid (25psi) they handle nice.

Those ones in Pic are the normal 117's, try the sport model which has side lugs. they're an aggressive tyre so they will be a bit noisy ( not as much as Simex's) . I got the 33" sport's on me patrol and theyre pretty good. no complaints on or off road, wet or dry. Drive with in the limits of the tyre. Now ask me about Coopers. On 2nd thoughts dont. Nuff said.
could you tell us how many k's on em roughly and how worn r theyAndrewPatrol wrote:Those ones in Pic are the normal 117's, try the sport model which has side lugs. they're an aggressive tyre so they will be a bit noisy ( not as much as Simex's) . 60 + Turbo, 33"s
You can get the MT-117's in a 31x10.5R15 at Chapel Corner Tyres in Melbourne for $175.00 each fitted and balanced.
They look good, but the amount of road k's I'm doing atm has kept me saving for a bit longer for something a little more user friendly on the black-top.

The MT117 (not the extreme or sport which are completely different) come in only one size - 280/85-16. Which is basically a 35" diameter tyre (actual measurement, not based on sidewall numbers). Sam Overton ran them a long time ago and said his were more like 36". The MT117 Extreme, which looks like a simex centipede, comes in 35x16 and 35x15. The MT117 sport, which looks like a normal MT117, except radial, with some slight changes, comes in smaller sizes (31", 33", etc).cooter wrote:do they come in 35's or bigga
Someone correct me if that info is out of date...

MT117...original malaysian jungle tyre. comes in one size as mentioned above.
MT117EX...just a normal mud terrain and biggest is 32.
AT117Special...all terrain, biggest 31
MT117Sport...advanced MT117, wider but only comes in 33 and 31
MT117Xtreme...designed by guy who designed original Simex centipede (he now works for Silverstone). Very similar but with enough design changes. Only comes in 35x10.5x16.
All Silverstone tyres, very limited in sizes but good performers and excellent value.
The MT117 would be one of the toughest tyres I have seen.
