Lost Power

My zook has lost some of its power of late. Where once it would power up a hill at 80kph, now its struggling at 70kph. Ive only noticed it in the last month or so. Oh yeh. Its a 1ltr 4speed.
Ive replaced the oil with 10w30, new plugs, running on the winter air intake setting. removed the air filter incase it was blocked. But still will only climb the hill at 70kph. Ive also used differant Petrol stations incase it was dodgy fuel. Ive blocked off the EGR system, made no differance.

Anybody got any idears ?

do you know what the compression was like before?

Ive just worn out a set of rear brakes because they were dragging and I didn't realise, I thought I was just down on "power".

I replaced them and cleaned all the crap out of the drums, now the adjuster mechinism is working again and the car now rolls freely again when pushed on a flat surface, out of gear and no handbrake applied.
When the brakes were full of crap pushing the Patrol was easier than the Zook.

thats a good point, a 1.0 litre can be slowed by anything faulty...mine would lose power when a wheel bearing, or a uni was faulty. It would gain power at an oil change....doesn't take much to knock a 1.ol itre on the head.

Any chance you've put a ding in the exhaust? Mate of mine had a similar thing, because the exhaust system is so skinny a small bend can restrict a fair bit of flow... Oh, and check that that the throttle cable hasn't stretched or done anything weird by seeing if foot on floor=full throttle at the carby.

yes, very good point, that happened to me, with the floor bashings to fit larger tyres, there was no room fer full throttle.
I spaced the accelerator pedal back.
there is adjustments at carby that can move, too.

Thanks guys. Will look at all the above this weekend. Was also told to check the fuel filter. Ill let ya all know if I find something.

Just thought Id put an end on this topic.

Checked every thing that you all suggested. Nothing wrong that I could find. No dents or restrictions in exhaust, compression fine, air filter OK( tried with it removed).etc..

Today air temp was about 21degC, so I set the air filter from winter to summer.
Well now its motoring up the same hill at 90km/h.
Other factors that could be helping: very slight tail wind, better quality fuel, higher tyre pressures 34lb( 8lb more) the cold air now being feed.

I think the cold air feed was the main factor. Just shows how simple changes effect small motors. Back in June I could not have run it on the summer setting with out freezing the carby up, but the hot air still dropped the power.
