I need a few GU things

Post by grimbo »

I picked up a Gu yesterday and I need a couple of bits and pieces. It is a 99 DX with the beige/tan interior. I nned a couple of the plugs that go into the holes in the windscreen column thhat cover the holes for the grab handle on the drivers side (or the grab handle), also need some of the interior panels for the rear. One is the access hole on the passenger side near the floor and the other is for where I'd imagine the seat belt would bolt to if it was a 7 seater. Also need a centre console.

On top of that I want to get some sheepskin seat covers any recommendations for places in melbourne to get them. Ideally would like decent covers not Supercheap ones

I have my old one from the GQ and am going to try and see it will fit. If it doesn't I'd be interested for sure

Mines one of those tradesmen ones that just bolts onto the wheel wells. From some dodgy measurements I did in the dark it should fit but we shall see tomorrow when I try and fit it

Can't be of much help but my advice would be to get the grab handle on the pilar. Any lift and/or tyre upgrade will make the "swing" in a pain without the handle.

My ute didn't come with one so got it from Nissan for about $50.

Sounds expensive I know but I wouldn't want to do without it now I've got one.

Also, pretty sure they are the same on both sides so that may help you track down a second hand one, I couldn't find one at the time.

There is a good place on the corner of Warrigal and North rd Oakleigh, not sure of the name but they are reasonbly priced and will custom make them.

I agree with RoldIT about the handle. I have a GU that didnt have a grab handle and it was a pain getting in and out, managed to pick one up from a wreckers for $25.

Cheers

I live about 200 metres from that corner and know of the place (no experience though). I'll get the name and number and post it up later if you want.
