shit everything that could go wrong did. 1st spider gears not lined up prop got a pencil grinder bit fixed that then poured lead in other side and filled axle shaft plus some on bearing . How do you set up crown wheel with adjusters cheers ron

Now start again, slowly. sort out the spelling and punctuation so that we can all see what you're getting at.

Did you pour lead, or is the lead poor (ie not healthy)
Did you fill the axle shaft with something, or did you file it

thats what i got out of it i hope its pretty close

assemble loosely.
turn both large round screw adjusters in and out, until backlash between crown and pinion is about the same as it was before ya pulled it out.
don't forget the little locating things, that stick into the holes in the adjusters.
then tighten all bolts and recheck backlash.
Don't overtighten, or bearings will bind.
don't worry, we all stuff up things as we learn.
(my first diff we welded in wrong order and side gears wouldn't mesh, so grinding was needed)
It will all be clearer in another day, after sleep.
Then next diff will be easier.
Side bearings are cheap if you stuff them.

Are you filling diff with molten lead, or you mean welding?
If its lead, heat will melt it out for another try. Never seen that done, so can't help much there.

just put the thing in and try it . i know a bloke that can get you cheap bearings if you need some not only that you can come around to my place next saturday night for another 5 hours.

Most things can be fixed! :lol:
If not, I am about to replace my F&R welded diffs (that a diff dude adjusted the backlash) with air / lockrite lockers so it can become an easier DD...so I will have some setup welded diffs ready to bolt in if you need them.

Got it all back together traction traction plus more. Did a few local tracks got over confidant and got stuck ph a friend snatch . little concerned about crown & pinon set up cheers ron

Now you have experienced the benefits, you will have more motivation to redo backlash if needed.
A little slack in the c&p should be fine.
Any noises or problems driving?
Did you get it running smoothly by hand?
How did ya go with the side bearings?

Some people buy a proper dial guage to get backlash correct.
Some use stiff cardboard wedged between the c&p before tightening.
I just guess, if it feels about right, or feels same as before.

Hope it gives ya years of service

christover no noise smooth now, think might have had a bit of lead still in side bearing after drive on Sunday, jack it up, seems ok time will tell, just did backlash by feel. cheers ron

Great, should be fine then, very cool.
Side bearings are easy to fix, but usually last forever anyway.
