Duroblend 10w/40

Post by Neetas »

Hi Folks
Just looking at engine oil options for a GU 3.0 Patrol - is Duroblend significantly better than Magnatec for a GU 3.0 Patrol.

Cheers

Mike personally I wouldn't let either of those oils near my engines, the durablend is such a low grade oil it is not even a diesel oil.
If your engine is under warranty you are screwed and may be forced to use a substandard oil but if it is out of warranty do a google on "HDDO" and some of the oil manufacturers for oil names and look for ci-4 rating at best or ch-4 rating at worst.

You need to know it is a HDDO (heavy duty diesel oil) first then you are at the top shelf and sometimes not in price either.
Oils marketed to the great unwashed like most/all? stocked at super cheap or Kmart are poor choices for those that know.

Thanks guys. I noticed on my Nissan service receipt they used Durablend at a cost of $68.40. The car has only done 20,000kms

Interesting as that oil is not JASO-DH1 compliant.

Nissan is at it again ...

Works in their favour, the sooner the engine comes back outside warrenty with normal  wear and tear and the more of it the happier the end of year profit is.
Just about everyone is suckered through warrent but many continue to sucker themselves after warrenty too!
