FJ62 Fuel Lines

Post by Nev62 »

There are 5 fuel lines that run from the tank on my 88 FJ62 to a flat U shape canister in the rear quater near the fuel filler (diesel). Can someone please explain what its function is????

Nev, that is a breather or expansion 'chamber'. There is a hose at the top that runs off to a hard line/pipe which disappears into the body sub frame which allows the tank to breathe.
-that is a diesel (HJ60) setup but yours is a petrol (FJ62)??

Nev, I believe its an expansion chamber. On my 62 the tube coming out the back at the top runs to a black cylinder at the drivers side of the engine bay, with a line coming out the bottom to a breather and a line to the carby. I've heard this has something to do with emissions.
