Easy lift?
Easy lift?
i'm asking this question for a mate of mine.
whats the biggest lift you can get away with on a gq without have to play around with caster etc? 2-3 inch possible?
he just wants something small to help clear his tyres.

2"easy, 3" may need some caster correction, but i had a 5" for a while with nothing else done.....drove ok but was skittish and you had to keep your concentration on the road.

Hi guys, Ive been meaning to ask the same question aswell. So where would be a good place in sydney to get these caster plates from.? And how much? And lastly will 33s fit a SWB GQ without getting a bodylift (in terms of full tuck) , just a 2-3 inch suspension lift?
Sorry for all the questions and hijacking this thread.
Cheers,
Rod

Dont expect mere proof to sway my opinion.
Rod I use 285/75R16 Muds, on a GQ SWB with 2inch susp lift (ome coils, koni shocks). This size will have minor rubbing in the inside of the rear gaurds at full compression. But nothing to really worry about, just carry a can of black paint to cover up the scrub marks.
I have a 2" body lift now and they still scrub. So wack'em on and go play.

Caster correction is an advantage on long drives, the vehicle won't wander all over the road and is much more positive steering wise. It's not totally necessary for the lift your mate plans to install - the CG will still be low and it doesn't sound like he plans to run a large tyre, so handling won't be affected much. But if he wants the rig to drive like a sedan, and has no tolerance for 4wd handling characteristics, then fit the caster bushes.
The installation of the suspension is not that hard - you could knock it over in a few hours (and save some money in the process). You can remove the front cast arms and have the bushes pressed in by ARB (or whoever supplies the caster bushes)
Prolly the minimum you'd want in a GQ lift is 4 inch - the 2 inch will prolly just take it back to standard, the way it was from the factory (replacing the sagged factory springs). That way you do get some lift for your money.
