Diesel fuel filter question

Post by Nev62 »

After 8 Days I finally found the air leak in my fuel line. One of my filters is the cause. Tried reassembling it a couple of time with new filter and still getting air :bad-words:

I have bypassed it for now and all is fine. The remaining filter is in the engine bay with the bowl on the bottom, primer on the top and cartridge in between. Am I ok to run just this filter or should I replace the other (both use the same model cartridge)?

Short term it won't matter, longe term it will mean your pump and injectors wear faster, since more particles are getting to them. The other filter probably has a much bigger water trap too???

Are you sure your lift pump is OK? this could also be part of your problem.

The first filter has no water trap, just flat metal bottom. LP is new as this was one of the things I changed when trying to find the problem.
