hilux lowbeam problem

Post by whiteknight »

on my mates 85 Hilux he has parkers and highbeam but no low beam.

I pulled off the H4 plug from the back of a headlight and all 3 contacts appear to be geting power when on high beam, is this right?

I have changed over the headlight itself with no luck.

Was thinking of maybe changing over the light switch itself on the steering column? where else to look or try?

I had this problem on my 1984 Sigma. Took me days to track my problem to a dodgy connection in a multi-pin connector under the dash. High beams are switched by a relay under the bonnet, but low beam are switched by the switch on the steering column. The current overheated the connector, melted the plastic around that pin and it lost contact.

It's still intermittent :bad-words: - I need to make a little bypass cable.

Your problem may be completely different. :D

Good luck,

Scott
