radiator repair

Post by stumpjumper »

hi all.
my radiator started to leek after having the motor rebuilt so i took it back to the people who did the motor and of course they told me that it wasnt up to them to fix it. so i pulled the radiator out and took it to get repaired , the guy that repaired it told me he had to block off three bars to stop it leaking,is this going to make the car run hotter as the water has a shorter distance to cool down :? :?

I'l go along with pc man on this one, That is a bodgy repair job and I wouldnt be taking it back there to even get repaired properly, do as pcman has said, either get repaired properly or get a new one, if it's been leaking from 3 of them you can bet your life on it the rest will start to leak and yes you are write, it would not be cooling as efficently as it shoulod as you now have 3 tubes that are blocked off and not cooling. The cooling difference will be pretty negligible, but the kind of fix he has carried out is something you would only do in the middle of bumf*ck to get you back home.

Go get it re-cored properly and then as an extra run some strong fly screen a few inches in front of it to help prevent stones and other such solid objects from damaging it again.
