Boost Controller

Post by Patrolguy »

Hi All

On a 3.0TDi I have been told that the turbo can be very erratic??

Going from around 8psi to anywhere near 30psi, has anyone else heard this??

I have been told also that a Boost Controller will fix this factory problem??

This maybe one of the reasons that the 3.0TDi's are going pop!!

Any ideas??

The ZD30 has a variable vane, controlled boost turbo. It's MEANT to change boost pressure with load. What you've been told is garbage. The reasons for past ZD30 are well known and documented, some overboost problems were experienced which were related to oil pressure/flow issues. (The variable wastegate is affected by oil pressure/flow) Save your $$$$ for oil changes!

All the thing needs is a 2 3/4' mandrel exhaust from beaudesert exhausts, a chip and a safari snorkel. It'll make 400nm and be both powerful and economical.

they are fairly high boost motor. boost will vary depending on fuel input which is decided by the ECU not neccarly by the driver. i've seen a few comments of them not getting full power untill you load them up. mind you thats not a bad thing, its the only deisel i've driven that i have to back off the throttle to avoid wheel spinning it up the road!

out of interest where is pressure sensor located on it? before or after the intercooler?

Thanks again NUTTY PROFESSOR

What about a 3" pipes, 3" straight through muffler (GENIE) and no CAT??

Would a DPCHIP do the trick?? (aka TUNIT)

What do you think??

PS How do you get the "Quote" to be in the grey box??
