alternative cooling for engel

Post by guzzla »

ive got an engel 80 f/f installed in the truck but its unavoidable that i needed to install a watertank across the main ventilation face.

while this is obviously not ideal or reversable i was considering wiring up 1 or 2 computer fans to the side vent to draw hot air away from the motor but i believe these would only need to run when the motor is. :D

SO..... any ideas how would i wire them up to cut in and out with the motor :?:

thanks in advance
regards,
nathan

PS: stuff the warranty, their over rated anyway.
IF IT MOVES, SHOOT IT
IF IT DOESNT, CUT IT DOWN
IF ITS GREEN, PISS ON IT

computer fans only draw approx 0.2amps, realistically would it hut to have running all the time while the frige is plugged in

if not, i would be looking for the active that feeds the relay(assuming they have one for compressor) and taking the feed form that, so when the compressor starts so does the fans,

i have never looked at the wiring for the engle, so im only taking a stab in the dark here

Have you opened up the engel yet?
There might be an internal fan already in there that you could tap power from.

I am using 2 x Vantec Stealth 80mm fans in my supercheapauto fridge.
They are virtually silent (double ball bearing) and only consume 0.1amp.

At $13ea they aren't cheap. Have seen them for less after I bought mine though
