crack in my extractors.

Went for a little bittle of a local play today and bout 30 mins in i could hear a noise. It souded like my flange gasket was gone so wher got home i had a look in the engine bay and noticed a crack in the extractors right near the head.

my question is am i able to weld this or get some one to weld it? or am i up for new extractors?

Yes you can weld it. Mine has done this but still leaking as the crack is in the between the convergence of the primaries.

More so how did it happen, do you need a flex joint in the exhaust?

F knows. I think they are about $90 for 3" i think.

If you can weld its cheaper to buy the bit and weld it in yourself.

I found mine have cracked because the whole system is hinged off the extractors and the exhaust hangers.

your extractors broke for a reason pal.
is it a diesel? are your eng. mounts fkd ?
if yes to either of these we need to talk "flex bellow".
owned a muffler shop a while back , go to someone you can half trust
flex bellows ie: 8" long x 2.5" id single braid would sell for $110 fitted ,
bellows would cost me around $35, unless you are geared up , leave it to
(them) cut bellow in ,and let the rest of the tradesmen still in the sh/t automotive game get reamed up the arse with thier stahlwilles tools by thier bosses to realise its not much fun. (sorry , had a bad day.)

Chassis flex can cause the exhaust system to move more then desired... OR you got your exhaust caught up on something under the car and it put too much force onto the extractors, causing the crack (more probable).

Flex bellows are a welcome addition in any exhaust I beleive.. they don't restrict flow or do any harm... and they can save your exhaust every now and then :D

I'm guessingthat the extractors are on the FJ45 in your avatar?
Weld up your crack, and then you need to modify the exhaust mount which bolts on to the bellhousing, so that it holds the bottom end of the pipes firmly.
Once you get this done, get the oxy and heat the pipe just above that mount to a dull red glow. This will relieve any stress from the pipework, and all should be good.
Also make sure that the rest of the system is able to move with the engine.
