Hey people,
just wondering if anyone knew where i could get a low kms jap engine in Perth for my feroza..
or..
if you have any other suggestions for replacing an engine? like second-hand or something?
im tempted not to bother and just get rid of the car because apparently there is a small crack in the transfer case, and the gearbox sometimes feels a little bit 'sharp' .... like when u put it into reverse it chinks in sometimes..

found a 3door 1.6L efi vitara =) pm me for 4x4ing around perth
Put in an Appluase HD engine. The engine is virtually identical ( cam slightly different ) but you will need to change all the add on bits.
I got a newly rebuilt one form the wreckers for $110 but of course this was just luck. Given the Appluase wasn't a hoon car there seem to be a few good condition engines around.
If you ask a 4WD wrecked for a HD engine they will screw you and tell you the engines are different - which is so much crap.
Even if you rebuild your engine all the parts are available from Repco if you remember to ask for Applause.

hey.. thanks for the tip! yeah I'd heard they were the same engine but yeah it sounds like it will be alot easier finding an applause engine than a feroza one..MightyMouse wrote:Put in an Appluase HD engine. Depends where you get it.... A 4WD wrecker will want around $1200 for an engine or transmission. Around the traps you sometimes see them being sold for $500+ ( engine ).
As I said I got mine from a "self service" wrecker as a bare engine for $110 which is their standard price - but you have to remove it yourself.
It was perfect - but that was good luck.
For around $1200 you could rebuild you own if your that way inclined get the F300 maunual from WWW.WARFS.COm for all the info on how it happens, but dont buy genuine.

Gearbox should be from ~$500 up from a wrecker. New you're looking at around $4000 (yes, I got a price!)
Gearboxes from a wrecker are a bit risky IMHO because they seem to wear if not serviced properly, but you might be lucky. You can get aftermarket bearing kits for them- so a rebuild could be a better option. Mine should be finally going in for one soon.
