G'day all.
I have a GQ Patrol 4.2D, 2 inch lift, 33's etc. Just got a snorkel on it yesterday(very excited), and was going to get the diff breathers extended. The fella from my local ARB store said that the standard breathers are long enough.
Is this true or should I extend them further up. Also how long are they and where are they tucked into?
Going to a mates property at the end of next month to get the thing muddy up to it's window seals!!

GQ Diff Breathers?
The bloke at ARB should know, did he have a look at the car? They may have already been modified?
As standard from the factory the rear one goes up to the rear cross member and terminates there ready to swallow crap when you go through a deep enough hole. The front one joins with the gear box and transfer case and goes into the inner guard, where it too can swallow crap given a deep enough hole. If you've got a copy current of 4wd monthly there is a full story on this in there.
With mine I brought the rear breather all the way up to the front high on the firewall and fitted a filter. Same with the front one. You need to be careful what hose you use, if it gets crushed and can't breath then apparently your diff will suck water past the bearings if they're hot and you go into cold water.
There are kits available on ebay to do this mod, I got my dad one last week:

Feel free to PM me if you want to chat and I can give you my phone number.
Hope that helps, Beretts.
