Faulty G13BB

Post by Jimmys »

Hey. Just a quick note for Jimny owners, the other day I had a look at a mates Jimny as it had trouble idling and had no power. He is also a mechanic (lazy mechanic) he checked every thing you might immediatly check about 6 months ago but every thing was fine. As I had have a Jimny myself I was a little intriged by the problem so I pulled the timing belt cover off to find that the timing belt pulley 'keyway' on the front of the crank was flogged out giving it about 25 degrees of slop. It has done less than 100K and is only now due for a belt. It might be worth for anyone doing a belt change in the future just checking that there timing belt pulley is secure as he is now looking at a new crank shaft. Don't think this is a common problem but it obviously happens! Ohh and a new crank alone is $1060 RRP.
