Details of new cruiser v8 !

Post by mmaaxx »

Here, I got this sent to me so Im passing it straight on to you blokes because I know you all care, and so do I.....

Image

I know the pic is big, and the right hand side is abit cut off but you guys will get the gist of it and Im sure you'll all be quick to get the 2007 model without the airbags so you can all bodylift them before the airbagged equipped 2008 models come out.

Should be some awesome rigs coming out, with the wider track and big v8

ENJOY!

220 kW and 580 Nm

I can't wait to see these things on the road, and seeing as how the next version of the 100 series (130 series) will have independent suspension, then the new troopy may be the offroaders choice for series work. Does anybody know a rough date for their release?

And that picture above is of the previous version - not the new version thankfully.

More New Cruiser/Prado/Hilux info

Post by mmaaxx »

G'day all,

Me again here, and I got some more information for all of you regarding the cruiser and others. Spoke to a bloke at work today who's pretty high up in Toyota Marketing and he told me the following:

The new V8 Landcruiser has achieved a fuel economy of 9 litres per 100km in testing and the release date has been pushed back till late 2007.

The new (updated) Prado will be released this year in November and will have the D4D turbo-diesel but an updated version than the current hilux version that will be 10kW more powerful and have 20nM more torque.

The Hilux will also get this same engine (Im assuming to keep up the competitions turbo-diesels and therefore an update on the hilux looks like it's in this works too).

Don't forget that even thou the power increase on the new D4D isn't that much, I bet ya it's the way it delivers it that will make the difference. Say for example it delivers peak torque at 400-550rpm lower, now wouldn't that be awesome for towing or 4x4'ing?

Will keep you all in the know as soon as I get more info and hopefully as I will get to be one of the first places that gets to see new models will take some happy snaps for you all.

See-ya!

Heres a link I found boys to a Noweigian site that has a black and white picture of a "possible" 130 series.

http://www.nlck.no/modules.php?name=New ... cle&sid=28

looks a loy softer than current one, sorta like a big rav4 on steroids.

take a look

Yeah - but the troopie bit says 'suspension will continue as the proven live-axle coil spring front/leaf spring rear. With that kinda setup, 220 kW, 580 Nm, an increase in the width to fit the V8 in and also increase stability, plus the addition of 2 extra doors & forward facing seats, the troopy is going to be one serious force to be reckoned with.

yeah i know

whats a new one worth now? i suppose they'll be another 5k or more on top.

you would hope that with the extra mumbo they'd have larger CV's, in which case i'll be right there to get a new set of diffs from a wrecked one :D

Toyotas V8 Diesel engine is up and going. Have seen quite a few prado and lexus models sporting a V8 D at the rear.

Are they really going to put it in a 70Series?

Dont know of any Prado V8, diesel or otherwise, nor Lexus V8 diesels? in fact I thought all Lexus Cruisers were petrol 4.7?
Feel free to correct me if wrong?

The Toyota Cygnus is identical to the LX470 sold in australia. Its just a 100 series landcruiser with the lexus front and rear with toyota badges. Seems a bit roundabout to us here in Oz. And its a 4.7ltr petrol V8. Definately not a Deisel :)

charterboat,

Your salesman is talking crap and trying to get your deposit money off you and to reserve a sale so he can get a point next to his name on the sales record chart in his office.

Where I work, we get all the launch cars of any toyota model before they are released, and after we prepare them they then go out to all the dealerships for display for the launch.

The last 3 weeks we have been flate out preparing Aurions for every dealership in Australia. So if a Prado update was to come along, mark my words, I would be one of the first in Australia to see it after the marketing and engineering guys 'suss' it out. And there hasn't been one yet, I'd let this forum know the very same day if I saw one.

Thankyou :)
