in a buggy you would be manually selecting the gear you want anyway so its prolly not needed

i know in a falcon bw35/40 auto if the kickdown cable is snapped you can still change manually fine

Not sure of the specifics, but i have heard of quite a few ZF's destroyed by incorrect adjustment of the kickdown...

Yes you do need kickdown!!

I have been having trouble with mine sliping and stalling inpark and neutral.

As you accelerate the kickdown cable is pulled, this increases your line pressure in your auto, without it hooked up your line pressure is like it is at idle all the time even when your at full noise.........BAD

Mine is hooked up now, all good
