Need about a square metre of steel... I want to replace this floor in my project G60:
I am planning on making a frame for it with angle steel, and then making a floor that lifts out. There are also cross members underneath that would support it.
So what would be the right steel sheet/plate to get? I am not mad keen on chequer plate, as I think it is a bit overused,. Can I get something with a similar level of corrugation? Or would the right thckness of flat steel be strong enough?
And how much will it cost roughly, cut in a rectangle to my measurements?
ive been buying from SS for a few years. not the cheapest on some things but they are happy to deal with the public and they have a very fast turn around time for pickup. also their off cuts bin sometimes has some good steel in there. a trailer fab shop should be able to do bead rolling for you.
Well, despite appearances it's not as swiss-cheesey as it looks in those photos, now that I've had a chance to clean it up a bit. So I am thinking of repairing it rather than replacing it after all.
Dunno yet, still working on the chassis and mechanicals and will look more closely at the body soon.
