GQ front diff into hilux question...

Post by justinshere »

Hey,

Putting a GQ diff into the front of a lux...

I want to still run leaves but i will have to move the leaf packs out, so it doesnt ride up on the pumkin, is it about 50mm either side i have to move it out?

If anyone has pics of how they have done this? especially the shackle setup you used....???
The front mounts are easy, just having probs with the shackles.

PM and ill give u my email, or if u can post them..?

Cheers

If you run IFS rears up the front, the extra length will put the shackle mount directly under the chassis (when you outboard the springs 50mm or so). Then either drill a new hole thru the chassis behind the body mount or mount the shackle underneath the chassis. (Probably works best with 2" dropped front hangers)
I have a pic of the latter but its pretty self explanatory.

why didnt you geta 60 series housing? very similar strength to the GQ and at least it would be toyota >_<

If you are running spring over(hilix is SOA yeh?) just truss the diff around the pumpkin and mount your leavs up higher. Free lift >_< Might need a trac/torque bar though.

Yeah, i got the diffs now though
Lux's are SOA

I didnt want to lift it anymore, keep it low and abit wider.
60s are another option, rear is only drum though, have to do a conversion
