GU Diff into GQ?

Post by Hulksta »

Hi all,

Dose anyone know if a GU diff centre will fit into a GQ... will GQ axels fit the GU centre?
Any info on this swap would be great.

Cheers

Thanks mickyd555
My axels are 31 spline and the GU centre is 31 too, Is the bolt patern on the GU centre the same as the GQ housing to bolt the centre straight in?

Thanks

centre is a straight swap but the GQ axles are slightly longer, i think they just need to be toched up with a grinder. Someone will explain more im sure, its a simple thing to do. Ive never done it, i just know it can be done as i was planning on doing it.

If you don't already have the diff centre and all you want to do is to change your ratios to 4.11's, why don't you grab a diff centre from a 3 litre rb30 powered gq, as that is what they are fitted with.

Ive got 4.1 rear but the gears are scufed which will be noisey.... and im being offered a 99 GU centre cheeper than a wreckers wants for a GQ

centres will fit. GQ/U rear is the same, ditto the front. only differences are the lenght of the axles, ie GU diff is something like 30mm wider, hence the longer axles. but centres are the same.

it will bolt straight in.
cheers Pete.

its the skinny pedal
