leaky td42 Pump

Hi guys
I have a leak from the back of my td42 desile pump. It's only slight and coming from the locknut on the fuel adjuster screw. was wondering if anyone know's the cause of this problem, what is involved in fixing it and what sort of dollars i'm looking at??????????????? cheers any help is appreciated.

The cause is our low sulphur fuel shrinking the rubber components sealing the pump.

You can fix it one of two ways. Replace the oring on the screw and hope it doesnt leak elsewhere, or pull the pump off and do it properly. TD42 pumps are also prone to getting engine oil in them from the front seal wearing a groove in the drive shaft.

i had this problem after filling from BP i changed to caltex the week after it started leaking and it stopped overnight and hasn't leaked since.
i use caltex deisel only from a few servos that still have normal low sulfur diesel as opposed to all the others which are Ultra low sulfur. the caltex in redcliffe doesn't have ULSD yet so try a few tanks from there and see how you go.

this list has the caltex servos that do have ULSD so go to one thats not on the list

cheers guys, i already run caltex desel having heard many people say that it is the best. In regards to replacing the o ring on the screw. is that a simple task to do, does anyone know what is involved???????????

if you need any professional(sp) help with it give Shane a call at Dpis(Diesel pump and injector services) in caboolture they know there stuff i would highly reccomend them to anyone :D
