Mate is looking at buying GQ ute he has been told by the owner on the phone it has leafs front and rear. Did they come out like this in the 90s?

yep they made them til 97 i beleive. some of them even had full bubble cabs and st spec interiors

the mines had alot of them as well as power authorities n telstra
mate has the cab off of one that was a 96 ex farm ute on his wags chassis

they are also rough as hell and a couple of my mates would give their left nut for a coil sprung. worth the extra $$ for sure

it is quiet a good option these days to buy a leaf sprung ute n throw the cab etc onto a rolled wagon's chassis

only takes a few weekends too

Mine is a 98 model that was full leaf sprung and bubble cab Dx model. now has a calbah 5 link and coils in the front. Rides well enough empty but can put a full tonne on the tray no probs.

Sorry if u think its a stupid question but why would you want leaf springs all round? I can understand having them in the back of a ute thats going to carry a lot.

a ute that has a cherry picker etc on them like some telstra Patrol utes do - overall carrying capacity..

The leaf spring rears have a higher load capacity,(approx 250 kgs) though this depends a lot on the type of tray the ute is fitted with.
My 93 TD42 ST coil cab tray back is fitted with an aluminium tray(ex Western Power) which is approx 90 kgs lighter than a steel tray.

Also has air assist bags in the rear, which helps with over 500 kgs of tools and such perminatly on the back off it.
Have had well over a ton (I no its not legal) on the back of it many time and still handles great. I would never go back to a leaf springer again.
