My TD42 on a long up hill climb--eg Mt Dandenong tourist Rd, on a hot day gets up to halfway on the gauge if i'm driving it hard. But comes down quickly once you level out.

How do you know it's running hot?

Anyway, did you use the right thermostat? Good coolant? And does the temp go up and down depending on your driving and the weather, or does it stay steady once it gets warmed up? Makes a difference.
