could be an interesting post i wouldn't mind what others have to have on there 2.8 tds as well i got nearly 250,000, had it scince near new, & just had the injecters looked at & was told the engine is in good shape
Well, most of the TB42's pull around 400kish before needing any work. 600,000 is possible based on care and workload. Certainly the TD42's would do better, since the weakest point in the TB42's is the head.
The normal figures I've heard of for TD42's are in the 700,000km range with proper care and maintainance.
I have a 1999 GU DX TD42 with 205 000 on it still going strong, my last ute a Mazda B2600 had 470 000 on it when i traded it, and that was with oil changes every 5000, so in my opinion a TD42 with should outlast a petrol 4
My TD42 has ~322K on it, but it's had a good life service-wise. Keep good quality fluids up to it regularly and they should last over 450K without a sweat.
When you are great, candor is often mistaken for arrogance.

Im not a gyno but ill take a look at it for you!
My TD42 has 494,000k's on it. Had a set of injectors so far and thats it on the motor, been serviced religously since new and (touch wood) it has been unstoppable, spent a big part of it's life towing horsefloats and boats all over the country and getting flooged hard pulling them. It's still going really well, wouldn't trade it for anything!
my td42 mav has 483,000 on the clock bought it off a an old blokes dad who had it from new. the old bloke owned trucks and had his mechanics do all the work on it but then he got dementia so dont really know the mechanical history. doesnt miss a beat tho. my tb42 gq bush machine done a head at about 370,000. replaced the whole motor with one that had done 150,000. still going strong and gets a flogging every second weekend.

MY old TD42 had 472 000km on it when I gave it to the insurance company. It only had injecters and normal serviceing done to it. And went very well for NA running 35's.
My new/old SWB TB42 has 155 000km on it. But has had a gas head put on about 20 000km ago.
TB42 on LPG, just clocked 300,000. Now i am no mechanic but i have kept up syntetic oils and filters about 2000K's before they are due and it seems to be going like new still.
