dual battery setup-2.8td

Post by cookie monster »

just starting to plan putting a dual battery into the paj. i currently run a 24 a/h waeco battery pack which has been fine for what we wanted. but now want to do more bush camping, so need extra capacity.
will be using the redark isolator and mounting either an exide extreme(80 a/h) or if the dollars stretch an 80a/h agm next to existing battery.

has anybody out there with the 2.8td, setup a 2nd battery in that spot and got some info on how it mounted. having a measure up it will be very tight to mount the exide extreme(n70), with the agm being a little better.
cheers

Hi Cookie
I have a dual battery setup in mine 95glx 2.8tdi. I just bought the tray from TJM and bolted it in takes a 12inch battery, I think it cost about $150.00 for the tray. I run a n70 excide extreame in the second battery tray it is tight but fits ok. I have a cav fuel filter installed it is a little hard to get to just have to undo the 2 connectors to the intercooler unbolt the intercooler and just move it a little to the side so I can get to the filter. I also managed to fit an heat exchanger under the second battery tray for my shower you can't even see it and used up space the is other wise unuseable. I would recommend you get a n70 as a second battery as you don't need any special charger and if needed you can swap it with your main battery (KISS keep it simple stupit). If you send me your email address I will send you some photo's.
