I have commented on my problem in another post but it gets progressively worse. The crank angle senor is my car is shot. Now trying to replace it is impossible. The part number on mine is J931 9601 where as the only replacement parts are a J913 and J927 (I think). Can anyone tell me whether:
a) I can use one of these other parts as a replacement without any problems?
b) If I completly replace the distributor can I replace it with one #J913 and still have the car working normally. I am concerned that if I completly replace the distributor with the incorrect model (even if it is off a similar aged car) that it will not funciton witht he ECU.
Nay help will be greatly appreciated.

Hmmm you should be able to get the dizzy rebuilt and bench tested.
Petroject do this you supply the dizzy and ECU and they repair and check everything out. Speak to a reputable EFI specialist they will know the drill.
I'd be very surprised if the other part no's weren't compatible with your ECU sometimes a part no change can only be a material change or a different supplier of the same part but they are still perfectly interchangeable.
How much are we talking about for a replacement sensor ? If they are not huge $$ and you can change it yourself why not (see if you can get your $$ back if it don't work).
The part no's you quoted - what are they from ? They don't appear to be Mitsu parts ?

Yep you are correct. They are after market spares J913. Mitsubishi no longer do the parts but will replace my dizzy for $1300 (Got to be joking). Been to wrecker and got a new dizzy. Will fit it on the weekend and let you know how I go.
Thanks for the replies so far.
Do love the old girl, comfy car. Bit big and slow at times but driver comfort is great.
PS.
For people that need any info on doing valve stem seals without taking the head off I can help. Did it in 8 hours and worked a treat (I am no mechanic either).
