6 to 5 stud adapter....use this on a Toyota front axle, no need to also change rear axle..

So SAS would end up needing the following :

- Front Toyota Axle
- 5.29 R&Ps
- 6 to 5 stud adapters (will give the extra width on Widetracks to match the stock Feroza width, no need for expensive IFS hub spacers or backspaced wheels)
- Front springs (YJ or Rocky)
- Front Hangers and Shackle setup
- Front driveshaft and mods needed
- Xover steering (fairly cheap if you use the Chaos setup)
- Locker if wanted
- Labour if not DYI..


Without having to touch the rear end...a SAS is suddenly looking a lot cheaper, only need 1 axle, don't have to change tyres etc..

adaptors, like wheel spacers will be illegal, no engineering for you :P

Still cheaper than using the IFS widening kit from Chaos..engineering definetly a problem tho...

I don't have the $$ to do any of this at the moment...but throwing the info out there to people who might want it is always good :)

What u doing on saturday/sunday bubs? Should come round and say G'day, will bring the manual with me.

G'Day Muz,

It is really a 6 one way, half dozen the other. SAS is not really something you want to cut corners on. Couple of major downers to your idea -

The 6-5 Stud convertors are a form of Wheel Spacer - these are totally illegal for on road use - can't even get them engineered from what I was told when I used mine for a short time. Would make it impossible to get your Engineers Cert. for the Solid Axle Swap.

You are stuck with the 5.29 R&P Gears still - if you are also sticking with the Feroza Engine then it would really suck trying to run 33's with the 5.29 gears. With 2 Toyota Axles you can run 5.71's. You are also stuck with the no LSD or Locker in the rear problem.

$500 for the rear axle complete is really the cheap part !!
The Spacers are US$80 each which = A$240 before you ship them !! Basically you're looking at around $400 by the time they get here after tax etc. To get them custom made here would cost you similar dollars - Crazy Stuff - just go the rear axle !!

Remember, the whole idea of the SAS is to run 33's or bigger tyres - at least with the Bigger Toyota Axle you get corresponding bigger Diff, bigger axles, bigger brakes etc etc.

There wouldn't be that much more expensive to sell off you current Feroza wheels / tyres & get a set of 2nd Hand Steelies from a Toyota & put a set of 33's on them.

My advice - for the sort of money you are going to spend on doing this - do it once & DO IT RIGHT !! Nothing worse than fixing something over & over just cause you were tring to save a few dollars :D Ends up costing you more in the long run :cry:
