G'Day All,
Now that we have a lift on the Disco....and as marie and I are short Arse's ....Ive put side steps on but really need some grab handle's to help Marie get into the thing .
I got 4 of the handle's from above each door to use from good old Ebay but.....Im not sure how to remove the "A" piller plastic cover with the speaker in????
And then even more unsure how to screw them on ie is the "A" piller double skinned or somthing so some self tapper would do or should I use some kind of anchor bolt's ?
I relise I wont be swinging all our weight off them....just need a little help to get in.
Any idea's would be great .

The A piller cover just unclips. Best way i found to remove them is to use a small flathead screwdriver and just prise away from the body. There are three clips, top middle and bottom.
I doubt the clips in the cover would be strong enough to support any weight if you put handles on there. If it's non-airbag then just use the grab handle on the dash.

Thanks for that....Yep I have twin air bags.
The main thing I was thinking about was putting a self tapper through the plastic bit and then into the steel frame bit....I think its called the "A" piller....but may be wrong.
Just wanted to hear from anybody who has done it, because I didnt know whats behind there....hence needed to know how to take the cover off

Well handles are on....look good and very strong.
I ended up just screwing 40mm metal Tek's in ....with countersunk heads, sounds a bit rough ....but its worked very very well
WARNING....If you have large hands and a short Fuse dont do it.......Kind of hard to get it right to start with.
The problem is the angle of the channel behind the plastic cover. I had to mark the cover ..then drill...than fit back on and drill marks onto the metal to know where to predrill the holes for the Teks.....Its a long way from the cover to the metal....also the angle is towords the outer side of the car....so you just cant hold handle on the outside of the cover and just drill as the bit will sliip past were the hole needs to be.
Also be careful because there are large hole in there with black tape over them......but I had no probs deciding where to put the handles etc.
But Im happy with them
If your interested I have pics of them on.......didnt worrie about taking any when cover is off....as its very easy to get off....so have a look.
