i think in future bolt all the way through the chassis and put crush tubes inside, this may help spread the load.

thats standard for them mate just try n straited the chasis rail out n get it plated and welded and then do the same on the other side it was a weak point on th MQ/K patrols.

same happened to me,
i got a whole new box secsion, little bigger then the chassi.
slide it on and weld all round, that worked for me.
cheap and works has ever come apart again, and its been to hell and back.

While you are at it, do a serious repair/mount for that hook.
Bolt right through with crushtubes and plate the end of the box to reduce tearing and distortion

that is incredibly common on mq/mks.... i have never had it happen to me, but i have owned 3 or 4 patrols now that have all had re-welded perches......
just plate it and weld it....

I had this problem with my Nissan, although mine only cracked before I noticed it. When I repaired it I removed the both left and right front cab mounts and shackle hangers off both sides of the chassis then welded a L shaped plate on both chassis rails, the plates were cut at 45degree angle one end, I then welded the shackle hangers and body mounts back on.
You might be able to see the new plate in this photo.

I also reinforced the shackle hanger and bolt holes my doing this.

i just feel very lucky because i drove 90kms on a broken shackle mount
but gotta think on this as a good thing i'll have the mig during the week my cosin is a welder and also while shes off the road my rear diff spool is yelling out for few bolts and weld on the spider gears
was there anything in the bible about this common shithouse weld that breaks
cheers
