I have a slightly worn 3.5 carby with a 3 speed auto.
What is a good upgrade that gives good driveabilty without too much power.
I'm told that if I go say 4.0ltr and 4speed zf with the transfer case to suit the ZF, this would be a good converstion without straining the rest of the drive line.
Or should I find a TD5 and auto setup...
I have a TD5 disco as my town car, but being a 02 model, I'd rather mod up the 85 rangie for bush, besides, it has the sus and body lift done, air systems, bash plates diff guards, sill rails all done.
Oh and I want to do it on the cheap cause I want to fit a ARB locker and disco axles, until I can afford maxidrive axles.

TD5 would be good, good power when chipped and intercooler done and great economy.
