Definition of a "bullbar" and airbag equipped vehi

Post by DamTriton »

Has anyone actually come across a legal definition of a "bullbar"?

Is it something that by definition is bolted or welded directly to the chassis of a vehicle replacing the front bumperbar?

Left of center question. What if it was mounted on 4 rubber bushes (similar to Nissan suspension bushes) to effectively isolate it mechanically from the chassis, therefore not actually contributing to the "strength" of any front end crumple zones, or affecting their operation more or less significantly than hitting a decent towbar? This would still allow the unit to provide some protection up to a point without triggering airbags, and would also allow the fitment of a winch, absorbing some of the shocks of winching.

Technically anything bolted to the front of a vechile which has an airbag must be airbag approved.

I have the relivent ADR's somewhere here PM and give us your e-mail address and i'll sent it to you.

Its an absolute shit fight I have had to do a heap of research on it for work.

Cheers Nick
