is the leaf sprung gqs (front and rear leaves) axels the same width as the coiled gqs?

i remember eading some where mate (no idea where, might be here) that someone had a leaffy gq and wondered why his tyres where futher inside the gaurds than a coilly gq. yes, it could be offset, but i'm sure in the end they concluded that the leaffy axels aren't as wide. why not just get coilly ones for your spoa. there more common.
