moving the front diff forward.
moving the front diff forward.
ok i have 31's with rears up front and ext. shackles w/ no body lift. I did the ruf by redrilling the perch, no chassis extension. I want to move my front diff forward about an inch to limit the scrubbing.
what would be the best and easiest way about doing this?
I was thinking about redrilling and moving the locator pin on the leaf packs but that takes a bit of effort....
and other ideas?

Re: moving the front diff forward.
The perch on the diff or the spring hanger.......I redrilled my perch 1.5" back from the original hole, then bolted it on the spring pack with the locator pin in the rear hole. On my car my z link rubs on the tie rod, so I cant move it any more foward. I love it, killa aproch angles & it does not scrub out ant morewaxhead.. wrote: I did the ruf by redrilling the perch

You might have to make new shock mounts cause your shockys hit the front of the shock tower quickly destroying them depending on how far you move it foward. Thats on my NT anyway
Or you could just put sum shock hoops in while ur at it.....its good to dream ah

My front diff is forward by 22mm.
Just redrilled for the locating pin on diff and axle plate.
There is just enough thread on bottom of shock mount to space it out, then no hitting occurs.
Not sure if this will be the same with ruf
Any more than this may cause tie bar and draglink to hit???

can we get more details about this mod as it looks like it is a better option than a chassis extention

Very interesting Pete...sounds like you've done a very good job on it then. Out of interest, when you say that QT will pass this mod of yours, have you actually applied to have it approved? ie. with any paperwork to say its legal or you just assuming they dont mind it as no one said anything? Could it have just been one of the few, nicer inspectors?

The inspector wasn't nice at all, as he complained that the drivers side front spring was 10mm lower than the passengers side front springNev wrote:Very interesting Pete...sounds like you've done a very good job on it then. The shocky hoops were knocked back, but the 'new' shackle hangers were either given the nod, or ignored. I wasn't there for the inspection.
And no, I have no paperwork to say it is a legal mod, but it is almost invisible anyway.....
