Which road tyre?

Post by whiteknight »

Am looking at getting a set of tyres for road use so i dont keep wearing out my muddies so quick. Would be looking at 33's or equivilant in the 16" size - which is anyone?

Is there any benefit of going 16" rims over 15" for road use only?

want something that last and grips alright in the wet, what do yas receommend or what do i stay away from if you know of some real nasties..

Pretty much any road tyre will be a lot better on road than muddies.

You'll normally find road tyres going pretty cheap here, since most people cant be bothered regularly swapping between muds and road tyres.

16 would be better as far as less flex from the sidewalls for on road use = better handling. Probably look for a 70 section tyre.

There's a few sets in for sale at present.

or 305/70/16. Thats also a 33" equivalent.

Mind you, does it really need to be 33"? This is for road use so the extra 1/2" of ground clearance isnt really going to matter much.

We run Mickey Thompson ATZ's on our 100 series - they're 305/70/16's. Great tyre, stick to the road really well and has improved the onroad handling of the 100 out of sight.
