Have been looking @ 80 series, Turbo Diesels.
Found one that has aftermarket turbo fitted back in 2000 but they don't know if the previous owner had the motor+gearbox rebuilt.
It currently has around 340,000 clicks on it.
Is a 91 model. I've read that the pre-95's would need some work done on the motor to be happy? Big end bearings?
Do you reckon it would've lasted this long without the motor being overhauled?
Not sure if I should just look elsewhere or actually go and check it out.

As soon as i bought my 90 model cruiser factory TD, i changed the big end bearings timing belt and tensioner.
Good practice to change these every 100k anyways.
Bolt on turbo`s are fine but i wanted factory turbo with direct injection (better in my eyes).
Now all cruisers that were released with big end bearing problems were recalled. Now if the previous owner took it back..who knows. You would have to be a moron not to though..really. Mine has a little silver sticker in the drivers door. These are recall stickers.
In the end up to you. But if you buy one change the bearings, timing and tensioner regardless.IMO

340 000 is not a lot for a diesel, as mentioned the factory turbo motros did have bearing problems before 95 but they are not that hard to change, I would do as sniper suggested. But the naturally apirated motor did not have the same problem, they can fail, but not nearly as common
If it is a naturally aspirated diesel with an aftermarket turbo if should be fine
Depending an how and where it was used and what fuel was put in it you could be up for pump and injector repairs shortly
you are looking at $3-400 for the timing belt change and about $6-800 for the bearings, $500 for injectors, $1000 upwards for pump
