front drive shaft clearance

Post by Vulcanised »

Anyone got pics of a modified gearbox mount to accomodate a big lift on a GQ? mine is very close, and i'm told you need to take the gearbox crossmember off and chop a bit out of the part that is too close to the drive shaft. I am putting a front shaft with a cardin in it in a couple of weeks, i want to modify the crossmember while i have my mug under the car.

i'm told with the rear one, it's just a matter of reversing the tail shaft.... which is what i'll do before i put the cardin in it

i got a 6" lift and the only time mine rear shaft touches is when i've got the shocks off and the car hanging from a crane. yes it is reversed.
cheers Pete.

heat it up crossmember and belt it with a hammer. rear shaft you can just swap around end for end.

This should be put in the bible ;)
