hey there.

i'm looking at paying a pajero in the near future and was wondering what was better. i definately want a live rear axle and a the 3.5ltr auto box. so which is better value, the NL or NK? i understand that the DOHC 3.5ltr was dropped from the line-up, is it a much better engine than the SOHC?

your comments would be appreciated.

thank you

The DOHC has more power, but the SOHC torque curve is stronger at low revs - so it's better suited to cruising/towing/4wding.

Personally, I think I'd choose the 2.8 diesel. :P

if you go the NL then at least you can put an LPG system on. pritty sure that the DOHC is not LPG compatable.

NK was aparently gas compatible, but not the NJ.

The torque curve of the SOHC must be more consistant so to speak - cas on paper it isnt there... dohc 300nm @ 3000rpm, sohc 304nm?? @ 3500.

The economy difference between the two though is huge... and a set of lifters for a nj / nk is over 2500buks... which are generally starting to show their age at 200,000....

Do yourself a faviour, go the NL...
